Built from firsthand experience.
BabuSpace began with a simple, personal problem. Our founder built an early version of the platform in South Africa to help solve student accommodation shortages — a first attempt at making short-term stays easier to find and easier to trust.
After early setbacks in 2024, the idea was rebuilt from the ground up, shaped by firsthand hosting experience on platforms including Airbnb, Booking.com and VRBO.
That experience highlighted two recurring gaps: payment friction for African Hosts and Guests, and a lack of trust and verification tailored to how people actually book and travel across African cities and their diaspora communities.
